Job description

As part of Manufacturing Innovation Centre activities to support the Panasonic factories in Asia Pacific, the automation engineer role is to enhance quality, safety & productivity of the factory through equipment innovation. The main responsible is for developing equipment from concept design until realized as production equipment.

• Take an initiative to manage whole project to develop automation equipment. • Discuss & analyse factory issues with factory members. • Define requirements according to issue • Provide solution proposal with detail concept design including making machine specification & costing. • Transform the machine concept into detail design & pneumatic/hydraulic circuit design. • Discuss machine control concept & electrical design with the respective engineer or sub-contractor. • Manage equipment vendors for project success. • Support equipment manufacturing, site installation, assure parts quality, machine quality and customer support after equipment installation. • Pursue improvements that utilize the latest technologies such as AI, AR, and operation monitoring in order to develop equipment that contributes to production more efficiently. • Develop & manage supplier/equipment vendor as part of overall operation for both Asia Pacific & Japan Panasonic Group. • Plan & execute a program for training automation engineers in factories as a regional headquarter. • Some level of administrative work required as part of internal & HQ reporting.

Job Requirements

• At least Diploma and above in Mechanical Engineering / Manufacturing Engineer • Automation/Equipment Engineer, with 5 to 10 years extensive experience in machine mechanical design & manufacturing. • Able to understand product development process, manufacturing process. • Able to use CAD & 3D CAD system (Solid works, AutoCAD/Inventor, iCAD) & Basic PC knowledge (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). • Individuals with good IT knowledge and experience in OT environment (manufacturing) will be an added advantage. (e.g. Data collection from equipment, Visualization of data, Utilization of AI for inspection etc.) • Able to travel overseas frequently within APAC and occasionally outside APAC; e.g. Japan, China, etc. (few days to a month after COVID eases) • A team player, self-motivated, innovative & agile. Possesses critical thinking abilities in order to improve application performance and resolve technical issues. An individual, with honest work ethics and excellent communication skills to provide a superior users engagement. • Language • Able to communicate effectively in English. 2nd language Chinese/Malay • Ability to understand Japanese (Written and oral) will be an added advantage.
